2025 Teens Dream - Revolutionizing Stroke Rehabilitation
My dream is to revolutionize stroke rehabilitation by providing an affordable and effective option for patients who suffered from a stroke and lost function in their hand. Millions of people worldwide suffer from strokes each year, and many are left without access to the rehabilitation they need to fully recover. Current stroke rehabilitation treatment options are extremely expensive yet relatively ineffective at improving hand movement function. My project Exotech is a novel brain-computer interface exoskeleton that helps stroke survivors regain lost hand movement faster, more effectively, and at a fraction of the cost of traditional therapy. It uses an electroencephalogam (EEG) to record brain signals and machine learning to decode what the brain is trying to do. It then converts this prediction into motorized movement of the exoskeleton, enabling the hand to move properly and rebuild neural connections to restore proper function.
My dream relates to UN Sustainable Development Goal 3: Good Health and Well-being by promoting access to quality healthcare for stroke hand rehabilitation for all. Current rehabilitation methods are expensive, slow, and often ineffective, leaving many survivors unable to regain independence. Exotech changes that by providing a cost-effective, technology-driven solution that improves recovery outcomes and enhances neuromuscular rehabilitation. By ensuring that stroke survivors—regardless of financial status—have access to cutting-edge, AI-powered therapy, Exotech is transforming rehabilitation and advancing the goal of universal healthcare access.
