2026 Teens Dream - Mend: Supporting Mothers’ Emotional Well-Being, One Connection at a Time
My dream is to create a world where mothers’ mental and emotional health is treated as essential, and where every mother, regardless of background or income, can access meaningful support. Growing up in Vietnam, I saw how mothers were expected to carry stress quietly. Mental health was rarely discussed, and emotional exhaustion was seen as something women simply had to endure. When I moved to the United States, I was surprised to see the same issue in a different form. While more resources existed, many mothers were still isolated, overwhelmed, and left to manage everything on their own. This is why my dream connects to SDG 3: Good Health and Well-Being. Through conversations with mothers and community organizations, I learned that emotional health is one of the most overlooked parts of maternal care. Mothers do not lack strength; they lack access to support that feels affordable, culturally respectful, and human. That realization led me to create Mend, a community-based emotional support ecosystem for mothers of young children. My vision is to make emotional support easy to reach, not something mothers have to fight for or feel guilty asking for. When we care for mothers’ emotional well-being, we strengthen families and build healthier communities for the future.
