2026 Teens Dream - Combating Parkinson's
With over 10 million people worldwide currently battling Parkinson’s and a further 218 million people at risk, Parkinson’s has a drastic effect on the lives of the people it infects. Parkinson’s is a chronic progressive illness that causes the breakdown of neurons, leading to decreased dopamine, which results in tremors, stiffness, slowness, and balance issues. Having firsthand seen my grandfather battle this disease for over a year, I understood just how difficult Parkinson’s is to live with. My dream is to help those diagnosed with Parkinson’s. This vision relates directly to UN Sustainable Development Goal 3, which calls for ensuring healthy lives and promoting well-being for all at all ages. To address this issue, I’ve developed NeuroGrip. NeuroGrip is a glove designed to combat Parkinson’s by stimulating hand movement and enhancing grip. Through NeuroGrip, we hope to add valuable years to the lives of those with Parkinson’s and make everyday tasks far more manageable.
