2026 - Teens Dream - Clean Water & Sanitation - UN SDGs
My name is Sarah Phyllis Fernandes, and I am a Grade 7 student living in Pakistan. My dream is to help make clean water available for everyone, especially in my city, Karachi.
This dream connects to Sustainable Development Goal 6, which focuses on clean water and sanitation. The SDGs are 17 global goals created to make the world a better place by the year 2030. SDG 6 is very important because clean water keeps people healthy, prevents diseases, and helps communities grow. Without safe water, daily life becomes very difficult.
In Karachi, many families do not receive clean water every day. Some people wait for hours for water tankers, while others are forced to use dirty water. This often makes children sick and causes stomach and health problems. I believe that water is a basic human right and not something only some people should have.
To help solve this problem, I want to start small but meaningful projects. First, I want to begin a “Save Water, Clean Water” campaign in my school and neighborhood to teach people how to save water and store it safely. Second, I want to promote collecting rainwater from rooftops so it can be used for cleaning and watering plants. Third, I want to show families how to make simple water filters at home using sand, gravel, and charcoal to clean dirty water.
My dream is to work with my school and community to make clean water more accessible for everyone. I believe that if we protect and save water today, we are protecting our health and our future.
